Sterling Silver, Anodized Aluminum, LCD Screens, Electronics dimensions: 5" x 5" x .5" year completed: 2007 description: I saw this piece as a foreboding prototype for Apple. As hybrid utensils, this four-piece set of machined iSpork flatware is an exploration into the theme of technological dehumanization. Like most aspects of our lives, I unfortunately see meal times as one of the last sacred communal human rituals inexorably earmarked for technological overhaul too. *Note: I guess I did not realize how popular these would wind up being, so I would just like to say thank you to everyone who has posted a kind reply to them and to the 2 DA members responsible for making them the DD today (I just figured out what that meant, lol) Thank you so much for your interest in them! And yeah, this is a sad situation.
But then again, you have to LET it invade your life for it to be a reality. To spend all your money on more or less useless consumer products and other junk they try to coach you into buying, is a decision only you can make, and noone's really forcing your hand here, advertisement or not.
