This is my first tattoo, I just got it done a couple of days ago and I am really happy with it. I have been wanting to design a tattoo for myself for a while, I just wasn't sure what I wanted to get. I had been toying with APATHY & EMPATHY as strong opposite concepts that are significant to my life and my generation; caring too much or not giving a f*ck.
I also recently ran across a Love/Hate Ambigram while teaching, and although it was not the first time I had seen a design like this, it was the first time I had seen a tattoo ambigram and I fell in love with idea and challenge of designing one for myself. My aforementioned interest in APATHY & EMPATHY as concepts just seamed to fall right into place with this, so I took it as a sign. To say the least, for me, actually designing decent looking ambigrammatical text is incredibly difficult.
For those of you who are not familiar with the word "ambigram," it literally means: A typographical design inversion that may be read as one or more words from another viewpoint.
I am a fan of strictly black (and gray) work on my own skin, although color tattoos can be quite incredible on other people's, it is simply a personal taste thing for me. I was nervous as hell about putting this design on me permanently, but thankfully my artist was great and everything went super smoothly.
Thanks for the view and I appreciate any comments!

At first, I was deeply intrigued with this image...but then I said to myself, "Meh!"
Just kidding! Nice design. I am a longtime fan of Scott Kim's work (from back in the 'OMNI' magazine days) and I've made a few (remarkably unimpressive) attempts, so I can appreciate your efforts.
Thanks as always! Yes, the are definitely a mind f*ck, I have almost a half inch thick stack of failed attempts at this one word alone, ambigrams are crazy hard but oodles of fun to try and wrap your head around.
